Becoming a Volunteer and participating in the District V.I.P. (Very Involved Parents) Program

All Harrison School District Two volunteers are required to register with the district before they begin working in our schools. Everyone must complete the registration process, which involves completing the Volunteer Application Packet. Forms are available at each school's front desk or you may print a copy from our website. Applicants may complete and turn in their forms at the schools.

Each application form is screened and a criminal background and fingerprint check is performed. The background check process takes 2 to 3 days and the fingerprint check can be done in one day. Applicants will be notified by email (or telephone if an email address is not provided) when they are cleared to proceed with the fingerprint check process. Fingerprint check cards may be picked up at the school's front desk. All fingerprinting is done at the Police Operations Center located at 705 S. Nevada Ave. Please note that the fingerprint check card will only be released to those applicants who have passed the background check. To ensure the safety of our students, individuals are accepted into the Harrison School District Two V.I.P. Program after the entire screening process is complete and the fingerprint check card (and forms) has been returned to our office at 1060 Harrison Rd. Bldg. G. Once you have been accepted into the V.I.P. Program, the school or department you wish to volunteer at will be notified immediately and your name will be added to the school's volunteer database.

During the first two months of school the volunteer screening process may take up to two weeks due to the high number of applications being submitted. Your patience is appreciated! If you have questions or concerns, give us a call at 538-1334 or stopy by your school's front desk and ask to speak to the V.I.P. Coordinator.

Many opportunities to make a difference

There a number of volunteer opportunities to choose from. Perhaps you want to stay active in the community or give something back to Colorado Spring's youngest residents. You might wish to enhance your career network or polish certain job skills. Maybe you just want to get out and about as well as meet some new people! You may have time to give each week, or maybe just for a particular event. In the course of your volunteer work, you may have a regular placement at one school, or you might prefer helping whenever and wherever you are needed, at any school in the district. Whatever your needs as a volunteer, we can provide the right fit in Harrison School District Two schools.
